What is a case issue?
A case issue is an issue raised by the party filing the due process complaint notice concerning any matter relating to the identification, evaluation, or educational placement of a student with a disability or a student suspected of having a disability, or the provision of a free appropriate public education to the such student. The due process complaint notice may include multiple case issues, and the IHO hearing the case renders a separate decision for each issue.
The district needs to enter a case issue before the case can be closed in the IHRS. However, case issues may be entered in the IHRS as soon as the case is opened. Issues can only be entered in open cases. The issues may be found in the due process complaint notice.
