FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
СƵ State Summer School Of The Arts Announces Summer 2011 Audition Information
The СƵ State Summer School of the Arts is pleased to announce that information regarding auditions for the Summer 2011 session is now available. Information on auditions for the Summer School’s eight arts programs – the Schools of Ballet, Choral Studies, Dance, Jazz Studies, Media Arts, Orchestral Studies, Theatre, and Visual Arts – is now available at the NYSSSA website: .
Interested students should be aware that due to СƵ State’s significant fiscal challenges, the Summer School of the Arts may not be able to offer programs this summer. The Summer School will be able to offer programs only if specific and sufficient funding of approximately $800,000 is included in the 2011-12 enacted State Budget. Nevertheless, the Summer School intends to hold auditions for its programs in order to ensure that if programs do receive the necessary funding, students will have been selected and are prepared to attend.
It should be noted that if the program is operational, a tuition increase for 2011 will be necessary. In the past, generous donors have provided scholarships – and more are being sought – to ensure that the students whose auditions demonstrate their talent and qualifications will be able to attend, regardless of financial need. All interested students should audition regardless of their financial circumstances, as efforts will be made to include all students who audition successfully.
Donors interested in being part of the future of the creative arts in СƵ – by ensuring that our most talented young artists have the opportunity to work together and develop their skills – should make their donations payable to “NYSSSA, State Education Department” and mail those donations to the address below.
